On marrying young

Last week, I saw an article talking about the hiring of Pat Summit's son to be a head coach at the ripe old age of 23. His personal website came up in the list of article search results, and the description mentioned "husband." No lie, my first reaction was, "Wow, married at 23. That's young." For those of y'all new to these parts, I got married 23. And apparently completely forgot how old I was when I got married. And the fact that I'm 25 and have been married over two years.

Personally, I don't think there's a right age or a wrong age to get married. It really depends on the person you're with and your life at the time. Honestly, I could've gotten married at 21.  Mac and I got married when we did because it made sense to do it at that time.

What's your ideal age to get married? Was it the same age that you were married?

  1. Zach and I got married when we were both 21....it was a good age for us I believe but we still get the occasional person who tells us we were married too young.

  2. I don't think there is a right or wrong age. Kyle was 23 and I was 22...we seem to be doing just fne. :)

  3. I agree, I don't think there is a right or a wrong age to get married... you just have to do it when it is right for you. Mark & I didn't get married until we were 28... we have been together since we were 21 and didn't get married until 1 month shy of being together 7 years... would I have done it differently, I don't know. But I do think that so far it has worked out for the best for us!

  4. When you know, you know! Of course, it took me longer to find Mr. Right. I was 24 when we met and 26 when we married (the first time) ;) - and my husband was 26 and 28 when he married! It didn't matter on the age - I just wanted to feel ready. My parents were 22 and 30 (my mom being the older!).

  5. I agree that there's no ideal age. I wish I could have been a little bit younger, actually. I'm 26 right now and getting married next month, but ideally I personally would have liked to get married at 24... but circumstances did not allow for that.

  6. I got married the 1st time at 20, and was honestly too young and we divorced a year later. I got remarried at 22 and have been married almost 14 years.

  7. I always new I wanted to get married before I was 25, and I was afraid it would never happen! But then I met my sweet husband and ended up getting married at 22 1/2 (to the day- like it was literally my half birthday). I regret nothing and it just means I get longer with my husband. I'm so happy I met him young because I can't imagine life without him.

  8. I don't think theres a set age. My husband and I were both 19 when we got married and in June it will be 8 years :)

  9. I got married at 21. I try not to judge, but when I see 18 year olds fresh out of high school getting married, I kind of cringe.

  10. I got married at...24 (and yes, I did have to think about that). I think mid twenties is a perfect age but it all depends on where you are in your life at that point ya know?

  11. I got married at 19. But if one of my girls wanted to get married at 19 I'd laugh. In their face. haha Just kidding.. maybe.

  12. I'm 20 currently and nowhere near ready to get married. That being said, I'd like to be married by 23. :) haha I'm a fan of marrying young, but I think you should do it whenever it makes sense.
