My BFF, Ashley, and I had a phone date last night. We chatted about our lives and what has (and hasn't) happened since we last talked. Ashley got into running last year and ran the Marine Corps Marathon last fall. Please note that her longest race prior to this was a 10K. She mentioned that she's focusing on being healthy: eating right and exercising and isn't focusing on a number on the scale. Ash is also training for a mini-triathlon.

| Aww, we're holding hands. Presh. |
I admitted to her that I ran the first day of Couch to 5K last week and struggled to run 60 seconds without stopping. That's a hard hit to the pride. I also started up 30 Day Shred (confession: I spent the whole day in workout clothes and didn't work out until 5:30 pm). While I agree with her wanting to be healthy, I can't help but think of a goal weight I want to be. That weight was me in college. I keep delusionally buying clothes in the size I was back then. Note to self: you're not 20 and living in the sorority house. The only pants that fit are yoga pants and two pairs of clearance fat jeans I was forced to buy, so I could leave the house.
But I'm going to stop weighing myself. Muscle ways more than fat, and I get really frustrated when that scale doesn't move. I'm back to tracking my exercise on my calorie counting app and need to just add in my food.

Stopping by from the blog hop - look forward to reading more from you.
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to lose weight and I learnt the hard way to listen to my clothes more than the scales.
Good luck with your goals :)

I will usually weigh myself once a week so see if anything has changed. Don't get discouraged though. :)
ReplyDeleteKEEP GOING!! This is my CONSTANT struggle and I have to say, I find it SO admirable and inspiring that you're willing to publicly share these things :)

I'm doing C25K too, and the only thing that motivates me to do it is signing up for a honest-to-goodness 5k. Mine is in less than a month. *gulp* I got back on the wagon today (because I'm scared to look like a fat failure on race day- haha) after not running for 3 weeks and decided week 5 looked ok. And it wasn't that bad! That app really does build you up, so keep going! I feel like if I can run longer than 60 seconds after a week, anyone can! You can do it!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the encouraging words and stopping by, everyone!
